Tasting Notes: Well, i’m actually happier with this one than I anticipated I would be. The brew session was kind of a disaster due to multiple equipment failure.
Sparge was the problem again. Didn’t extract nearly as much sugar as I wanted to. As a result, it’s overly hoppy and not as balanced as I hope. It’s drinking decently but I shall not be defeated!. I will remake this and it will have a more malty flavor.
Interesting blog you have going. I started something with the same idea in mind about a year ago. I stopped maintaining my usual brew journal and started publishing everything onto my blog. I am going to be updating a little more of a regular basis in the future, but I thouhgt you might be interested in taking a look.
I just made the move to all grain, so all of the old entries are extract based.
Cheers!

Hey, glad you found my little site here.
I’ve been doing all-grain for about 6 months now. I’ve decided that i’m going to be batch sparging instead of continuous anymore. Perhaps one day when I want to plunk down more cash for a more advanced system I’ll return to it.
I like the layout of your page. I’ll make sure to keep checking it. Watch soon on my page because i’ll be making an irish stout (1.042) and i’m going to do my first batch sparge. Should be interesting. I’m hoping for it to solve my OG problems that I always had with continuous sparge. After reading the first post on your blog, it seems that you had the same problem.
That sounds like it. I am looking at ways to create my own little continuous sparge contrpation (I like to build all my own crap, I know it makes life more complicated, but I just can’t bring myself to buy some of the things I see in the store because they are just a bunch of stuff I can get from Home Depot).
I have some spare copper tubing and I am looking at my options. As soon as I get my camera to start putting pics on my blog, I am going to post some shots of my operation. There is a site that I referenced in my Great Divide Clone that has a nice explanation of an all grain system supported by photos.
Anyway, good blog and good luck.
